ARTICLE: Fans ditch tickets to Circus tour
« on: November 13, 2009, 05:38:38 PM »
Oh, bother... here's the new Rebekah Devlin.  Her name is Shannon Deery.
Welcome Shannon to her 15 minutes of fame.  I'll leave my comments for after.
BRITNEY Spears' concerts look set to be derailed as fans flock to offload tickets to her shows.

Hundreds of tickets to her shows at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena and Sydney's Acer Arena were listed on eBay this week.

The sell-off by fans follows a lip-synch controversy that has dogged the star since she arrived in Australia just a week ago.

Dozens more went on sale yesterday after the pop princess failed to wow fans with her first Melbourne show on Wednesday night.

Some have been listed with a starting price of just 99c - with no reserve.

Most are offering tickets in pairs or multiples, with many stating they can no longer attend as the reason for the sale.

The flood of tickets has resulted in a buyer's market, with tickets being sold well under face value.

One Britney Spears diamond-class standing ticket for one of her Sydney concerts - valued at $200 - sold for $32 while $220 diamond class reserved seats are being offered more than $100 cheaper than face value.

At Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday, fans walked out early in disgust at a lacklustre performance with some demanding their money back.

Other disillusioned fans were offering to give away premium tickets outside the venue. With tickets ranging between $200 and $1500 they were promised "a dazzling display of music, dance, magic and theatrics" at the year's "biggest spectacle".

Instead they said they felt ripped off.

Spears came under fire for sloppy dance routines.

"If you're going to mime, at least learn how to dance," one disappointed fan said. "It was the worst $200 I've ever spent."

Independent ticket broker Shaun Black said the Circus tour was a flop.

"It has been really tough. I will lose a lot of money with this tour," Mr Black said.

Well that was a fun read.

Firstly, Shannon - dear, love, muffin... There are only 3 official outlets to buy tickets to the Circus tour.  They are Ticketek, Showtime and Preferred Seating - or their agents.  For you to interview an "Independent ticket broker" means that you spoke with someone who is operating illegally as a ticket scalper.  He'll "lose a lot of money with this tour" because he purchased a surplus of tickets so he could hoarde them for a premium on the auction site you are reporting on, eBay.

Those other tickets that you've pointed out... did you actually check the sellers?  There are alot of duplicate sellers, selling multiple tickets.  Hmmmm, so these "fans" bought more than their tickets to now sell on eBay?  Also, saying that tickets are selling under face value may be incorrect. (Edit: We've re-checked and there have been a number of tickets sold for under the face value - however it's unsure who has sold these and if these were "scalpers" trying to profit who had no other choice). Tell the story correctly, as some tickets were sold to public for only $50 the other weekend.  So these sellers could actually be pulling in a profit.

But here's a gold star for a great report that no-one cares about!

Nothing in that article made alot of sense.  It wasn't researched too well, since it took me about 15 minutes to research my facts and comment on her article.

Like WTF?!? hahah

Sadly, majority of ppl will read this dribble tomorrow and believe it.

OMG......a child could have researched that whole article better.........'Independant Ticket Broker'........erm what? Is that what all the scalpers are calling themselves these days.

If this keeps up in every stop she does.......Britney will not be returning to Australia. These bitches doing this dont understand that Britney came here for her 'fans' not for the people who just bought a ticket because they were curious....these are the ones who are maybe not too happy and the papers are loving these people......its these that are ruining this for everybody else, i wish Britney would do some damage control :(. As for walking out, if i was at a show and i paid $200 there is no way i would be walking out of there anytime soon, even if it was shit.

Oh, its crazy how everyone cares about the bashing articles and news groups never report on the positive ones.....everyone likes a bit of dramz :(

haha god, I just ripped into a wench working at Universal store just then cos I said I was going to Sydney to see Brit, and shes like 'oh isn't everyone walking out of it etc' haha so I went into full on lecture mode, my friend had to walk away so she didn't laugh haha, and then we went into Myer and a girl was spraying Circus Fantasy and I'm like yeah I already have it sorry haha, and told her to sell as many as possible, my challenge to her for the day :P

But yes it is sad, because as rediculous as it sounds, the general public believe this bullshit.  :(  All we can do is educate them! haha

II am an American who has always respected and admired the Aussie people. Our histories with settling a new nation are remarkably similar, as is our outlook.. Our guys stopped off in Australia during WW II on their way to the islands, many to die, many to marry Aussie girls - thankfully. As nations, we have been close.

But I have been disheartened by the savage treatment Britney has gotten from  media hacks from Perth and a couple from Melbourne, along with a politician and a few fans who don't seem to have the brains to pour piss out of a boot. I don't want to believe that they are representative of the Australian people. Britney has put her heart and soul into this tour, and her performances. In her words, "you have some amazing performances and you have some not so good performances." Does the "not so good" deserve the beating she has been given in Australia but nowhere else in the world?  Thanks to her incredible courage, loyalty and kindhearted soul, she stays to finish. I don't think I could.
